Some of you have seen pictures of my all (er mostly) aluminum ghost trap on social media and have reached out with questions. I figured I’d post a few shots here for you.
I will be posting the full Fusion360 file and BOM for anyone to use/modify. There’s a little cleanup to do, so expect that in a couple weeks.
This is *pretty* accurate, but not 100%. I took a little license to accommodate the method of manufacture. This project was done in concert with @SendCutSend to show off their capabilities, so I adjusted the design where needed for their design guidelines. That said, I also design checked along the way with a screen-used hero prop and it is pretty on the money.
If anyone has questions I’m happy to answer them here.

I’m offering two levels:
- A kit of machined parts and all hardware to assemble a trap
- Fully finished commissions including trap, pedal, and hose
There are 20 slots available for this run.
Interest list is NOW OPEN, and closes 2/18 at midnight pacific time.
Machined Parts Kit Details:
Kits will contain:
- Full set of machined parts to assemble one trap (trap box + trap base w/ handle).
- Full set of hardware necessary to put the assembly together
- Assembly and finishing instructions
A few notes:
- Assembly requires basic hand tools and an orbital sander.
- Details/adornments are not included in this kit – builder will need to supply the appropriate parts to assembly the trap to GB1/2/3 spec as per their liking. Sean Charlesworth, GBFans Store, and GBHQPartsDepot have pretty much everything you need.
- Side rods ARE included in this kit. Presently I plan to do these the same way as my Mark1 units, which used HP Polyjet printed parts. That said, this trap kit is compatible with the aluminum side rods offered through the GBFans store if you prefer those.
Price: $750
Fully Assembled & Detailed Commissions:
Commissions will contain a trap, pedal, and hose.
Cost will vary depending on the buildout desired by the patron. Level of function and specific vintage/details will affect the price of the commission. Basic units will include barograph and red indicator lighting; fully functional setups can include full animation and audio.
Price: Starts at $1900
Stretch Goals:
- If there are 20 reservations by 2/11 I will include a pre-machined Vector plate with each parts kit order (since machining these cleanly can be a PITA).
- If there is a waiting list of >5 people by 2/18 I’ll also include a pedal base with each parts kit order.
Terms
I am asking 50% up front, due by the list closure date.
Production will take about ~3 months. Progress will be updated here and on IG. Parts will be shipped by a common carrier unless you need something different. Full commissions must ship insured.
How Do I Sign Up?

I’ll confirm your list number and reply with PayPal/Venmo/ApplePay info.
Mark 2 Design Update:
As I mentioned in previous posts I am making some updates to the design to make assembly easier. Specifically, the “wings” on the sides of the forward indicator were made of a lamination of three pieces of sheet and then post-machined. This illustrated what I needed it to for the Mark1 units, but personally I never want to have to put that assembly together again. Trust me, you don’t either. So I’m redesigning it to be a single part that more accurately locates into the trap box pieces. Added benefit is that I’m going to fly cut the sides of it, which will give that characteristic “swirl” mark you saw in the original GB1 units. Another benefit of this update is that it affords more space for the bargraph electronics.
I’m also looking at fully machined doors. My Mark 1 units had laminated doors which worked fine, but I wasn’t completely happy with how they hinged. The eagle-eyed will notice that I used brass shelf-pins for the hinges that were screwed in place. On the Mark 2 units I plan to do single-piece doors that use pressed roll-pins for the hinges. the fit will be more exact, and the diameter of the hinge pins will be closer to the original.
The mix of materials shown in the pictures will remain more or less as-is. Although the Mark 1 traps had aluminum uppers, I used birch ply, some MDF, ABS, and Acrylic for some of the inner pieces both to control cost and weight. Notably the skate base used ABS, primarily for weight reduction. The Mark 2 units will follow the same pattern as the Mark 1 units with only minor interior component changes. The biggest material change in Mark 2 will be the skate axel – I’m going to make that from plastic because my original design was birch ply and it was a crap move on my part.
Mark 2 units will also include mounting holes and wire paths for my forthcoming electronics kit.
Thanks again for all of the interest in my project!
